ArtA'A, library - academy - info point
The challenge in creating an art center for the municipality of Aalter consisted of transforming the existing shell spaces into an open, technically and acoustically effective building. An additional challenge was the fact that the building consisted of 2 floors below ground level.
It was decided to retain all structural beams and columns and to place the entire building in a monotonous concrete-grey base. An open building for users and visitors with maximum visual interaction and daylight on all levels. Colour is used to define the public areas. As well as a slide to explore the youth library at -1.

House WADV
This former chalet was transformed into an airy house, whereby the volume of the extension was adapted to the positioning of the existing oak trees. The structure is made of steel and finished with black-oiled wooden cladding and a gold anodised facade. Maintaining a holiday feeling, opening up to the garden as much as possible, as well as creating a captivating spaciousness through the expanding roof shape in contrast to the limited ceiling heights of the existing parts. The kitchen is situated in between the old and new and forms the transition between day and night functions.
