Reconstruction of an Old Farmstead
The Reconstruction of an Old Farmstead project reimagines a historic agricultural compound in a village in the Kashubian region of northern Poland, not far from the Baltic Sea. The intervention focuses on the reconstruction and adaptation of two buildings within a traditional rural homestead: a century-old house and its neighbouring barn.

Rather than replacing the ageing structures, the project retains the original spatial composition of the farmstead and reinterprets it for contemporary use. The designed structure of the building is a compact form consisting of two cuboids stacked on top of each other, close in plan dimensions, rotated 90 degrees relative to each other, and additionally shifted. Breaking the uniform cuboid emphasizes a different function for the ground floor compared to the first and second floors. Additionally, these two volumes are distinguished by the finish of the facades.
