This sculptural residential building was built in a beautiful residential area in the canton of Solothurn with a wonderful view of the Alpine chain with the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau. The three floor levels are each rotated 102 degrees from each other and create a superimposed and shifted building sculpture. Due to its hillside location, the ground floor rises elegantly out of the terrain towards the south. The private bedrooms, with a separate master bedroom, are located on the upper floor. The loft-like living zones are on the ground floor. From here you can reach the terrace deck with pool area and elegantly descend a few steps into the garden area. The architecture office Ângela Roldão, located in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, is the physical representation of what the team seeks to create in their projects. We aimed to translate into our 120m² space the influence of Portuguese architecture in our work: pure forms, asymmetrical volumes; a delicate yet complex space. When the pandemic hit in 2020, our architectural practice was forced to rethink our logistics and work out of office. As time passed, we decided to leave our old physical space and work remotely with occasional meetings. That was until 2022, when fellow practices invited us to share a floor in a historical building in Brasília, where we’re based. Located in Vieux-Rosemont, nearby the Promenade Masson, the new DESK architectes workshop is right in the heart of the neighborhood where it was born. Wishing to operate a place of meetings and collaborations evocative of their beliefs regarding the city, the group of architects chose to settle in a place directly connected to the street; an active and proactive postulate towards the effervescence of Montreal. The chosen place is characterized by high ceilings of over 13 feet, raw materials and generous windows.
