Kreuzgasse

A strikingly elegant landmark development. A corner plot with a number of older buildings at the junction of Stadtstraße and Kreuzgasse – a strategically significant location on the edge of Dornbirn city centre – was scheduled for redevelopment and a striking newbuild. The result is a solid, upmarket construction that sets its stamp on the surrounding urban fabric. The height of the polygonal structure, which comprises two linked volumes, descends in staggered levels from its high point on the city side to the two-storey connecting section. The mid-rise blocks form a U-shape that extends towards the rear of the plot with the dominant eight-storey corner volume nudging the weight of the development towards the road junction... More

2226 JED Schlieren

Maison de l'innovation

For the french Post services, the Maison de l'innovation in Nantes is an opportunity to bring together all its IT departments, working on both the group's digital transformation and its cyber security. Designed by Baumschlager Eberle Architekten, the new building is a landmark in the urban landscape, highlighting the monumental view from Boulevard Vincent Gâche. The generous, double-height porch that opens onto it becomes a major architectural event, affirming the identity of an address and the public role of an emblematic company. Reminiscent of bridges spanning the Loire, this geometry is reminiscent in many ways of the specific characteristics of a city.  Cyrille Weiner Cyrille Weiner Cyrille Weiner Cyrille W... More

Kornelius Forum

Professor Gerd Jäger, head of our Berlin office, recently took the microphone. The occasion was a happy one: the foundation stone for the Kornelius Forum in Berlin's Wedding district was laid in the presence of church and local celebrities. Even more pleasing: "This new building is the first building in Germany to be constructed according to the 22·26 principle," explains Gerd Jäger.  The climate-friendly new building largely manages almost without heating, mechanical ventilation and cooling. The name is derived from the feel-good temperature of 22 to 26 degrees Celsius. This building design method significantly reduces construction and energy costs. A particularly long service life and recyclability as a contribution... More
