Copenhagen health house

With respect for the surrounding area and a strong focus on aesthetics, Dorte Mandrup A/S has designed a building that accommodates the required facilities while offering a remarkable spatial experience. The building makes extensive use of timber and its many architectural possibilities. Through close collaboration with the architects, the main contractor Einar Kornerup A/S has successfully translated the drawings into reality. The building contains many elements and details that required new approaches to construction. High-quality craftsmanship has been present throughout the entire process Einar Kornerup Einar Kornerup More

Solartag - Glostrup Stationsparken

Glostrup Stationspark features the largest integrated BIPV roof installation in Scandinavia, covering approximately 7,500 m² of Solartag roofing. Instead of traditional rooftop panels, the solar solution is fully integrated into the architecture, forming part of the building envelope. Solartag The system delivers a total capacity of 750 kWp and is expected to generate around 589,000 kWh of electricity annually, contributing significantly to the building’s energy supply. Solartag The matte black roof elements blend seamlessly with the architecture, demonstrating how large-scale solar energy production can be combined with a clean and coherent architectural expression. Building Integrated Photovoltaic (BIPV) Panels

Invisibly integrating high quality PV technology in ventilated solar rain-screens combine architectural, economic and environmental qualities to produce a unique and transformative building material. The solar facade will pay for itself both financially and environmentally while at the same time providing a highly durable and resilience cladding that will pay for itself many times over its multi generational life. Ventilated rain-screens are a proven cladding solutions that protects the building against the elements and lower operational costs by simplifying maintenance and lower theremal load of the building. The structure also lends itself easily to reuse in a circular resource economy and when integrating PV it will furthermore produce... More

Single-family house in Bern

The roof of a house is not only a durable protection against wind and weather. As part of the dream home, it also acts as an eye-catcher and rounds off the architectural design of the entire property. This is what the owners of this home thought, too, who took the opportunity to upgrade their house aesthetically and in terms of energy technology as part of a roof extension to gain living space. Conventional solar panels were out of the question for them. The visual appearance of the house and the most ecological building style possible were the top priorities for the owners. At the same time, optimal energy generation was to be achieved by covering as much of the roof surface as possible with solar tiles. A clear case for the products from... More

House Moss - Norway

This family in Moss wanted to carry out energy-saving measures in their house. They reinsulated the roof and walls. As a crowning achievement, they installed SunStyle solar roof tiles on both the house and garage. The garage roofs have an east/west orientation, which provides good electricity production in the morning and afternoon. Houses face north/south where the south-facing surface has active panels that provide plenty of electricity during the day. The facility provides good production throughout the day. In addition, the roof of the garage and house has a high roof angle. This results in good production on sunny days in autumn and winter. On the north side of the house, they installed dummy panels that do not produce electricity, but... More

Circular Tiny House CTH*1

Circular Tiny House - CTH*1 - Straw.Clay.Timber.Light How to build sustainable? A very current question - that moves a lot of people, as well Master students of the course „DESIGN and MAKE sustainably“ guided by Prof. Dr. Rainer Hirth at Coburg University of Applied Sciences and Arts. The project started with a number of seminars about problems coming from the building sector. According to an UN report from 2020 [1], the construction sector is responsible for 38 % of all CO2 emissions globally; for an immense and constantly growing consumption of resources and, for example, in Germany for around 55 % of all waste[2]. The constantly increasing demand for living space per capita - the average is currently 48 qm in German... More

UNStudio completes the new HQ for the creators of K-Pop

YG Entertainment, the producers of K-Pop, engaged UNStudio to design their brand new headquarter building in Seoul, which since its completion has become a hub for fans hoping to catch a glimpse of the latest K-Pop stars. Rohspace The new HQ is located on a site that borders two very different conditions. To one side is a  low-density housing area, while on the other side the HQ faces a dense network of highways and bridges and overlooks a large green park with a river. This positioning largely informs the design with the building orientation and interior organization arranged to maximize views. The seven office levels are oriented to take best advantage of natural light as well as views over the park.  Meeting and collabor... More
