In the heart of the house, the kitchen emerged as a culinary haven. Mediterranean graphic blue and grey tiles adorned the walls and floor, adding a vibrant touch, while the sleek gold accents on tapware and handles added a dash of glamour.

Alto da Barra Apartment
This is a project for the refurbishment of an apartment, in the Alto da Barra Urban Complex, on the outskirts of Lisbon. This neighbourhood, designed by Fernando Silva in the 1970s, is a good example of a happy transposition of the modern urban ideals, which include: freely positioned housing blocks sitting over pilotis, horizontal windows, pre-fabrication of elements, flat usable roof-top, into a domestic architecture of quality which embodies a particular southern and uncomplicated way of living. SituationProject Beaumarchais takes place in a little alley, calm and vegetal, sheltered from the noisy neighborhood.
The former commercial unit has to be transformed into a loft. The existing space is defined by its structure, metallic ceiling and beams, cinder blocks on the walls, by its 3.85m under the ceiling and by its depth, with only one facade towards the exterior to bring light in.
