Bright and airy

This 3,400 sf dental office is located in Austin, TX. Upon entering, patients are welcomed by a waiting area that is comfortable and cozy with multiple seat options to choose from as well as a fireplace that truly makes it feel like a home living room. In the waiting area there is a beverage station for patients to enjoy while they wait. The reception desk features natural wood back-lit with LEDs to create a modern feel. The hallway leading to the exam rooms and offices is light and area featuring barn door style sliding doors. A pale blue and white color palette also contributes to the bright and airy feeling. More

Built for a retired couple, this house was designed for single-floor living, with the entire first floor ADA accessible. The upstairs rooms accommodate visiting children and grandchildren, with plenty of bright open spaces for the family to spread out and have fun. Patios, covered porches, and expansive windows wrap around the house, allowing everyone to sit out and enjoy the sea breezes on sunny days, or take in the waterfront view from the comfort of the sun room or living room when the weather isn’t as warm. Trillium Architects took cues from the family’s Scandinavian heritage and incorporated solid wood, natural light, clean lines, and bright, soothing colors throughout the house to make it truly feel like home.  More

Designed for a couple with a young family who wanted to make the most of this small house, we created plenty of open floor space and lots of natural light while also making the house energy efficient. We accomplished that by placing floor-to-ceiling windows where possible and even exploring smaller stair spaces with triangular units. Working within the existing envelope, including existing siding that had to remain, we insulated the house from the inside with open-cell foam in wall cavities and a combination of closed-cell foam and mineral wool along basement walls.The final result is a well-performing, energy-efficient house that feels a lot bigger, brighter, and happier without breaking the bank.
