The clients desired a contemporary new build but lacked the budget for a full replacement. ARs approach therefore was to transform the rather unattractive house into what appears to be a new contemporary home without the expense of starting from scratch. Identifying what was useful to keep and what had to go in order to create the modern aesthetic and to keep on budget was the key to a successful outcome.

Tel-Aviv Rooftop Apartment
Renovation and extension project, which turned a small, dark 70 square meter flat, enclosed in the center of an old apartment block, into a bright and airy 120 square meter rooftop apartment. The project included extension of the existing floor and construction of a new, light-weight 40 square meter unit on the roof.
The extended first floor, which is also the entrance floor, includes all the bedrooms, a central family area, and a small patio, open to the sky, which functions as a shaft of light and ventilation.
The new upper floor includes the living room, kitchen, dining area and two terraces - south and north, for winter and summer, respectively.
