CENTRE SOCIAL DE L’ARBRISSEAU

The social center of L’Arbrisseau is located in the south of Lille, an area that is undergoing radical redevelopment. There is a clear political ambition and the varied urban landscape offers great potential. This is a tight-knit community: people born in L’Arbrisseau often spend their whole lives here. The challenge of this project is to embody the sense of renewal as well as the community spirit. The building was designed taking into account the advice of the population and the city council. Users wished for their final project : an aquarium, a reception desk, a library and a tree, the symbol of their neighborhood, which is called l’Arbrisseau (‘arbre’ is French for tree). And so they got a tree – a 12-metre tree of life with a terr... More

Bad Aibling City Hall

In the center of the Bavarian town of Bad Aibling lies Marienplatz, a historic plaza flanked by public, retail and hotel buildings. It is here that the two main streets of the town intersect and where the existing Town Hall from the 1970s has stood. In recent years, the town of Bad Aibling decided to construct a new Town Hall as a means by which to further invigorate the center. This was successfully realized through the concept of the new multi-functional venue that houses a variety of programs – including citizens’ services, administrative offices, meeting rooms, as well as a public library and a registry for weddings - all under one roof. The old town hall was demolished down to the cellar level. Keeping the cellar and the building fo... More

City Hall Archidona

10-Nov-2016 Process Time and location are basic coordinates in each and every architecture work. Therefore, inherited architectures are so intense that they are able to establish a huge influence on the formalization of the project. In Archidona, both suffer a redefinition, time as an update, location as a contextualization. The project, officially called “Rehabilitation of the Minor School for Cultural Centre and new headquarters of Archidona City Hall”. It is located in the Plaza Ochavada and San José Street, and it combines two different types of intervention, rehabilitation and new construction, with just a project decision, based on the consideration of a local invariant that is used as basic concept and as a tool for the pro... AGORA Social and Cultural Centre

The MAGIC MOUNTAIN An Agora must be an accessible and open space for people’s meeting and their civic expression. This public and collective character makes architecture face to a double challenge: On the one hand, its program is complex and multiple, covering from culture, administration, meeting, spectacle and social services. On the other hand, even being a building, its true vocation is linked and close to the concept and qualities of a square. Iconography and civic image Urbanization of Sector 2 “San Pedro de Visma” – in which the Agora Centre is inscribed as civic centre and urban organizer – represents a forward step in natural and agricultural landscape domestication that surrounds A Coruña. In order to contrast this ac... More

The open municipal hall

Besides the gentle renovation of the existing house, the project foresaw a multi-purpose hall that integrates public space into the building. The hall’s expansive openings allow to serve as a link between street space and arcade courtyard. The present construction works and also the extension continue the tradition of this eversince ongoing building. The extension combines with the existing building to form a new, joint whole. However, the extension is recognisably an independent, contemporary part. More

Hof van Coevorden

The Hof van Coevorden is part of an urban plan involving the renewal of the old, star-shaped defensive canal and the motte, or mound, on which the castle stands. In addition to accommodating the town hall, the Hof van Coevorden is home to a dance hall, two pop venues using a ‘two-boxes-in-one-box system’, a bank and the arts centre. The High Court of Justice and the Law Courts of the city of Pecs

After its reconstruction, the main entrance of the building has been moved to the northern leading bridge. From there we get to the new, large courtrooms. On the ground floor there is a registrar, a garage and mechanical engineering rooms. With the establishment of ramps free movement has been ensured. The building mass consists of four separate cubes. The mass formation is characterised by its closed and reserved nature that is softened by the irregular arrangement of the windows and the skylights. While the window openings appear in the northern and western sides of the building, the skylights break up the roof levels of the fifth facade and provide the courtrooms with natural light. The facade tiles are sawn Kanfanar stone cover. On the... More

Viborg Town Hall

With its distinctive faceted shape Viborg Town Hall becomes a symbol of the new large municipal community that opens in the wake of the municipal merger. The new town hall is situated in a previous military area on the outskirts of Viborg. Shaped as a white sculpture floating above a dark base, the building opens up to the town hall square and the new green park. Employees and visitors are invited into a building characterised by brightness, openness and flexibility. The green roof running from the building base beautifully interacts with the landscape and the green parking roofs surrounding the front square. In the large atrium rising up six floors from floor to ceiling, a broad staircase constitutes a sculptural, uniting element. The empl... More
