James Lin and Owen Liu reached out to Paul Michael Davis Architects (PMDA) to help renovate their home, where they had lived for about a year. The house was odd. In 1933, when Redmond was farmland and cabins, someone built a modest rambler overlooking the Cascade Mountains. Over time, developments filled the landscape. Bill Gates and Paul Allen founded Microsoft about a mile away.

A. ANALYSIS | Typological background
- In the past, the island's economy was largely based on agriculture, which exploited the fertile lands. In the case where the property was not flat, the farmer was building retaining walls with the stones he had taken out of the field, a technique that preserved the precious soil from being washed away and turned the slope into arable terraces ("pezoules" ). (see photo 1)
- A characteristic type of island’s vernacular architecture is the stone farmhouse, usually of α rectangular plan. It consisted of the "crevatos", where the couple would sleep together with its children, the kitchen and rarely a reception room. (see photo 2)

CS Residence
The CS Residence is four-bedroom house with three car garage and a bike workshop in the garage. The clients’, avid bikers and software owners, had purchase a site from when they were married and sat on it for many years, thinking of what they could build. Pollard Architects were chosen for a prominent list of architects, because of our level of design and unique approach to their site and program. The residence resides at the base of Mt.
