Calacatta Viola House
In the picturesque suburbs of Kyiv, a private house has become home to a family of four and their cat. Designed as a family retreat, the project embraces color, texture, and detail to create a layered and expressive living space.
The architects and clients spent considerable time searching for the right solution, from building plots to existing houses. The chosen property stood out for its well-planned layout and potential for transformation. During the very first visit, the concept for the color scheme emerged: cool gray tones paired with the deep wine hue of natural stone and striking accents of Calacatta Viola marble. Located in the Condesa neighborhood, this apartment belongs to a young couple with an active social life who approached us with the request to reconfigure their social area. The initial assessment revealed a narrow, enclosed kitchen that disrupted the flow of the public space within the home.
With the understanding that the kitchen often becomes the heart of gatherings and social events, we proposed a layout centered around a large table that serves both as a food preparation area and a communal hub. This move redefined the kitchen as an open, versatile, and welcoming space.
