The Beppu Kannawa Jigoku Onsen Museum is an immersive "academic entertainment" facility in Beppu, Oita, Japan, opened in December 2022. Conceived by design practice Tanseisha and architect Yusuke Okada, the museum takes visitors on a 50-million-year journey beneath the earth—following rainwater as it seeps through rock, heats underground, and resurfaces as Beppu's famed thermal springs. In 2023, we partnered with EOA Group on the ceiling design of a hotel restaurant. Our water ripple panels became the visual centerpiece of the space—their mirror-like reflective surface catches and disperses light naturally, filling the room with a soft, radiant glow. Nestled along Austin's beloved Lady Bird Lake Hike and Bike Trail, The Loren Austin is the first urban hotel in The Loren collection of boutique properties. This mixed-use project pairs hotel rooms and residences in a decidedly treehouse-like design, crowned by one of Austin's newest favorite rooftop restaurants—the perfect spot for sunset cocktails. Amenities include a luxury spa, gym, and rooftop swimming pool, with the hotel and residence portions bridged horizontally and split by a paseo: an open-air passage with a glass elevator that visually binds the two programs.
