Suzhou Hi-con

Three Chimney House
Siting, Form & FunctionThe siting of Three Chimney House is derived from the specificities of the land. It sits at the edge of the woods, roughly in a north-south orientation but rotating each of the house’s main functions into separate wings that frame picturesque natural views from each room.

The Main Hall—which contains the kitchen, dining room and living room—looks and opens up to wide, unobstructed views of the Shenandoah Mountains. The wood-clad Residential Wing is attached to the south side of the Main Hall via a hallway to create a threshold for entering the more private spaces of the house. Branching off the Main Hall to the north are an art studio and guest house.

The Mill House
The Mill House is a Grade II listed property located in Shalford village Conservation Area. The house is set within a generous 6-acre plot with stunning views adjacent to ‘Shalford Mill’, an 18th Century watermill with Grade II * listing.
The Client’s brief was to extend and remodel the house at ground floor to provide a light filled kitchen dining area that would open out to maximize the potential of the beautiful garden.
The design concept is based on a sketch of the house circa 1836 that shows a cluster of pitched roof forms which have been removed over time. The footprint of the extension is located on the original foundations of these previous structures and reinstates the historic courtyard.

Double House
A young family bought a piece of land to build the house of their dreams. The plot is located in a new quarter of The Hague called Ypenburg. This particular area gives the opportunity to build any house you like, but... there are a few urban restrictions. One of these restrictions is the shape of the roof, and another one is the use of brickwork and/or wood in the facade.
The client had a vision of a house with a house for the two parents and a house for their two children. This idea transformed in the "single family double house" where the parents` house and the children`s house greet each other in a unique space in between.
