The Lighthouse Project
The Lighthouse Project involved the restoration and repurposing of the Grade II listed St Michael’s Church in Byker, Newcastle upon Tyne. Designed by Bradley McClure Architects and delivered by Eden London UK Ltd, the project transformed the disused church into a youth and community hub with music studios, art spaces and flexible facilities for charities and community groups. A contemporary timber framed extension provides a new reception and dedicated youth space, while the wider development includes landscaped play areas and a sports pitch.

John Puttick Associates adds glulam porch to historic church in Hove
London-based architectural studio John Puttick Associates has completed the refurbishment of St Leonard’s Church in Hove, a seaside resort on the southern coast of England (part of the city of Brighton and Hove). The refurbishment includes the addition of a contemporary glulam (glued laminated timber) porch with a standing seam zinc roof. The new porch is designed to encapsulate the church’s welcoming nature.

Canterbury Baptist Church
Located on a prominent corner opposite Canterbury Gardens, the Canterbury Baptist Church has been serving the community since 1891.
To support ongoing environmental and economic sustainability, an opportunity was identified to enhance the site through high quality, considered apartments and additional facilities for the Church congregation and local community. The proposed multipurpose hall is designed to reference the existing architecture of the Church, designed by prominent architect Keith Reid in 1962.
