PROA Climbing Centre
Proa Climbing Center is an indoor sports hall specialized in climbing and bouldering.
The project takes place at a 500m2 old warehouse to create the infrastructure and necessary amenities for the gym users.
It is an activity that naturally gathers around users from different levels/experience to help each other out and discuss new technics or ways to address a given issue. Users come together on the surroundings of the wall, such as the access corridors or even the matresses, therefore, it is fair to say that these areas are to be considered as a social spaces. This is the core aspect of the project: provide the most area possible for interpersonal interaction and boulders in order to create the community feeling.

SPOT Multipurpose Sports Centre in Thionville
Our task here was to create a contemporary space within an existing one that dates back to 1960. The town’s municipal gymnasium and theatre formed a historical whole, but the site’s sports facilities needed to be modernised to host major competitions and cultural events.

A desire for architectural coherence and respect for the existing built heritage guided our approach. So, we preserved the stone wall that gave visual structure to the whole site and that now serves as a link between periods of time. We also kept the original entrance portico, which remains the landmark it always has been for the town’s inhabitants.

Rise Climbing
Rise Climbing, opened in late 2022, set out to become the social hub of climbing in Newham.
Created by and for climbers, the project celebrates the social and collective spirit of the sport looking to shape a space that brings people together. In the past few years indoor climbing has experienced an explosion in popularity and is one of the UK’s fastest growing sports. In 2019, regular participation in climbing grew by 22% in the UK, which is four times faster than the wider fitness industry. There are now 1.4 million people climbing in the UK every year.
