Aqqu Central Café

The Almaty-based studio breathes new life into a landmark pavilion, transforming 1960s nostalgia into a bold manifesto for contemporary commercial design. The Aqqu Central Café project is more than just a new opening in Almaty’s prestigious "Golden Square" it is a profound act of architectural reincarnation. In the 1960s, this site in Manshuk Mametova Park was home to the legendary "Aqqu" (Kazakh for White Swan). It was a sanctuary for the city’s intelligentsia, famous for its serene ponds where a pair of swans lived. After the original building was lost to a fire and eventually demolished, the site remained vacant, preserved only in the warm memories of older generations. Verve Manhattan Beach

Over the past few years, we have collaborated with Verve multiple times on new stores, retrofits, and work at their headquarters in Santa Cruz. The Manhattan Beach project was our third full buildout of a store with them and the first we have completed in Southern California.  Lauren Anderson Lauren Anderson The primary design goal for a  Verve space is for it to become part of the neighborhood fabric; they all have their own unique vibe. The only specific design standard is for the space to feel bright, airy and balanced, not overcrowded or stark. The Manhattan Beach location was a design experiment to realize a full service cafe, with a food service program into a minimal footprint (900 sqft). We pack a ton of equipme... More

Demitasse

Demitasse is another project where Liqui was responsible for both the restaurant interior design and the build, while our creative agency Crate47 took care of the branding. Working hand in hand like this means that clients receive a fully integrated service that results in the brand and interior working in unison to create a truly harmonious brand experience. It also means that with everything being handled in one place, there is a flow of ideas back and forth between all disciplines leading to a greater degree of continuity throughout the project as a whole. Added to this is the practical aspect of Liqui taking care of every part of the interior fit out. This holistic approach was very appealing to the couple behind Demitasse who, having t... More

Brew92 king's Road

With this project, Liqui undertook the complete architectural design of the whole interior within the shell of this striking triangular-shaped building set on the main road into Jeddah. We conceived the whole layout and all structural elements within this exclusive coffee shop interior and flagship store. We designed a kitchen, various seating areas, and an intriguing staircase and ‘bridge’ leading to a hidden retail space. With its own individual look that combines both Japanese and Scandinavian influences, Liqui has created a unique brand experience for our long-time clients, Brew92. Crate 47 Crate 47 To tie in with the strong, almost ‘brutalist’ exterior we introduced floor to ceiling concrete columns t... More

Rawsters Coffee

Rawsters Coffee and Supply Co. is a new generation coffee company which has two coffee shops in İstanbul and also supplies roasted coffee in high quality with its own distribution network which is one of the biggest chains in Turkey. Emre Dörter Emre Dörter With a bold approach, Wangan created the new concept of Rawsters based on the charm of contrasts. The second coffee shop of Rawsters is located in Akmerkez which is one of the most well-known malls in the city. While the light pink palladian terrazzo floor composed of traditional white marble, the maroon back wall color and the plywood secondary layer with curvy lines express warmness and femininity, the stainless-steel coffee bar and shelves with sharp edges and the... Brew92 - Mecca

Liqui’s modern coffee shop design for Brew92 in Mecca harks back to the glamour of Art Deco interiors. In particular, with a palette of bright pinks and blues being used throughout, the coffee shop interior reflects the Tropical Deco style of decor that’s so indicative of Miami’s beachfront hotels from an era full of optimism. The clean lines, strong geometric shapes, and curving forms synonymous with the buildings of the period can be clearly seen in the architectural features of the interior design such as the wraparound coffee counter design, the arched doorways, and the way in which the different sized tiles are delineated on the floors. The Deco style is also clearly expressed in the bespoke banquette seating islands... More

The Wellhead Cocktail Bar

The Wellhead is a relatively small cocktail bar design for Liqui, but this did not lessen the amount of consideration and attention to detail that we gave to the project. This new coffee and cocktails venue is housed in a historic listed building in the Finzels Reach area of Bristol’s vibrant city centre. Therefore it was an important part of the brief that we retained original features such as the exposed brickwork and arched windows in our interior design. It was also a tight space and the building was an awkward shape which meant that to make it function as a cocktail bar design some careful space planning was required with due consideration given to ‘flow’. This led to a bespoke angular coffee counter design which allo... More

Brew92 - Palazzo

This was Brew92’s second branch in Riyadh that Liqui’s coffee shop designers have worked on. This is a coffee shop design of two halves – with one half of the walls, floors and ceiling being finished in black and the other in natural coloured wood. It had to tie in with their latest ‘Back To Basics’ approach which puts their speciality coffee at the heart of everything. This was followed through in the cafe interior with our long coffee bar design that is positioned front and centre. This makes the ground floor of this two-storey coffee shop ideal for socialising around the coffee counter. Surrounding the walls we’ve placed cafe furniture in the form of our Milne Chairs and Studio Cafe Tables with our Wo... More

Brew92 - Riyadh

Liqui’s coffee shop design in Riyadh is our third for the coffee company Brew92, and it’s the second flagship store we’ve completed for them. The two-storey coffee shop interior, shortlisted for the 2019 Commercial Interior Design Awards, occupies a large space divided into a variety of seating areas. It features its own roastery as well as a bespoke spiral staircase design linking the two floors. In addition to the Scandinavian inspired coffee shop interior itself, Liqui created all of the furniture and lighting used throughout. This was designed and manufactured by us in Britain before being shipped to Saudi Arabia for installation. More

Brew92 Al Khayyat

Liqui has created some stand-out interiors for the coffee industry throughout the Middle East; with previous projects in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Jeddah. The Al Khayyat flagship coffee shop design, shortlisted for the FX Awards 2019, and previously the Design Middle East Awards 2018, is our second for Brew92. It features a specialist roastery and an extensive coffee counter offering premium choices. The coffee shop interior brings together reclaimed wood, refined finishes, lush green foliage and deep blues to create a beautiful and memorable environment that is integral to the Brew92 brand. To break up the open two-story empty space in a way that would give it some character we opted to give it the feel of a reappropriated warehouse and worke... More

Kaafi Coffee

Kaafi is a great example of Liqui’s coffee shop interior design ‘concept to reality’ service that we can provide for clients around the world if and when required. In the case of Kaafi, as well as the café design, we manufactured furniture and lighting in the UK before shipping it to the Netherlands; while our build team, working to our full specifications, undertook the coffee shop fit-out through to the finished interior. We even provided the complete cafe branding through our sister company Crate47. Kaafi is an independent coffee house in the heart of The Hague. Our coffee connoisseur client wanted a welcoming, cosy and elegant place for his customers to meet, relax or work while enjoying his specialist coffee.... More

Muni Coffee

Liqui worked together with our own branding agency, Crate47, to create both an inviting cafe interior design and a comprehensive brand that reflects Muni’s Filipino and European coffee influences. Crate47 developed the brand that reflected the coffee company’s roots. Their approach was to reflect this USP across the entirety of the brand. They achieved this by using elements of the Filipino culture and coffee production within their designs, using a subtle use of traditional Filipino patterns and complimentary earthy colourways for their logo, sub-branding and within their fully responsive website which Crate47 designed and built. Liqui in turn took this strong brand developed by Crate47 and created an immersive interior to re... More
