Rooftop Laundry

The late works of Siegfried Morkowitz are best represented by his poem Sentence recently published in the B O D Y Magazine. The melancholy fills the space while the poem is read. NoD Café

The café is the core of NoD experimental culture space. Our goal was to refurbish the interior to attract daytime coffee shop visitors. Our proposal is amplifying an early 20th century atmosphere whilst keeping the NoD signature; the pompous central bar under the floating Jiri David’s Golden bones sculpture and the elevated seating area. The original ornate molding is being continued with a new one which we cascade all around the hall. The smoked oak parquet, the white mosaic at the bar, and the traditional coffee shop chairs, accompanied by the brass elements, refers to the era of the foundation of the house.Products:Central bar tiles: Mutina - RombiniWorktop: Technistone – Noble CarraraChairs and stools: Ton – Chair 56, Armchair 24, Stool... The restaurant offers a quick lunch for the busy day, as well as fine dining experience paired with assorted cocktails for the later eve. Challenge Nr 1 was to solve a little puzzle. The space that wasn’t meant for a restaurant and the client's task wasn’t the easiest of all: “The place has to work for breakfast, for lunch and even for a drink at night. The food is going to be diverse, served like “pinxtos” from the Basque country, but local and fresh. The look has to be simple. Let the food do the show.” We managed to win the invited competition with a spatial trick, that made it possible to connect... More
