Transformation mansion Antwerp

The most important spatial approach is to transform a dark basement into a fully-fledged living kitchen. The floor plate of the rear space is lifted slightly. In this way, the light spreads and views between the seating area and the new living kitchen are created. On the rear facade, the double bay window seems to have always been there. Residential care centre Gitschotelhof

The existing Gitschotelhof is surrounded by an amalgam of suburban typologies - battered residential housing and cautious experiments with campus models. The charming thing about this neighbourhood is the way segments of dooryards and side gardens, lawns and street greenery, intersperse the rigid urban blocks and create the illusion of a garden city. The existing Gitschotelhof, a proud institute dominating the parcel, was demolished and replaced with a new cluster containing a residential care centre, a service centre and sheltered housing.
