Karinox Coffee

Karinox Coffee is a project built in Phan Rang - Ninh Thuan with a total area of 2800 m2 with a total investment of 50 billion VND. This project was directly designed and constructed by Delicate in only 9 months from the time we received the submission. In this project, the investor wants to create a building that is symbolic of the sunny and windy land of Phan Rang. Writing the first sketches, we chose to combine two main elements: Nature and Culture for this story.  Hoàng Lê   Nature is the first factor that inspires the design team. 10 commercial buildings that benefit from planted facades

The integration of nature into architecture marks a proactive urban response to the climate emergency. The urban heat island effect is a phenomenon where cities experience higher temperatures than rural areas. Roads and buildings displace an area’s natural terrain, disrupting and removing soil and trees. These natural surfaces help to regulate temperatures: vegetation provides shade and lowers the surrounding temperature, and along with soil and water, it cools the air via evaporative cooling (much like sweating, where evaporating water absorbs heat). Buildings and artificial surfaces reverse this natural process by trapping heat and then releasing it. The source of this heat includes both solar energy and human activity. As urban po... More

A wooden industrial hall with office function Roofscape The industrial hall(s) is, in itself, a straightforward structure. However, the roofscape transforms it into a distinctive building, both visually and experientially. Image Courtesy B-too Image Courtesy B-too The industrial hall serves as a climatic and safety envelope for business activities, such as a production environment. Flexibility within and around the hall is crucial to optimally facilitate the activities as an envelope. The envelopes, however, are of such magnitude that the landscape is significantly impacted. The roofscape solution, developed by B-invented in collaboration with B-leaf, ensures an optimally flexible envelope with maximum use of the roof. The roof... More

10 commercial buildings with striking metal cladding facades

One of the most versatile and robust structural materials to come out of the industrial age, metal is inarguably a prerequisite for the 21st century. However, metal is no more just a structural aspect; it also has visual appeal owing to the magnificently evolved use of metal in architecture as an exterior cladding material.   Additionally, the most preferred material for cladding modern architecture is metal. It has a futuristic appearance, can be fashioned into any desired shape, and acts as a shield against adverse weather.    Commercial buildings feature metal facades because of their imposing nature and durability. From a curved steel membrane inducing visual movement to a gleaming aluminium façade, the followi... More

nfw!

One plot, two buildings, two uses, one client, one building site, one schedule but two different intentions – this is perhaps the easiest way to describe the nfw! project in Graz. Tamara Frisch One of the buildings is becoming the headquarters of the traditional family electrical engineering company (mainly commercial enterprise); the other one houses the family’s much younger real estate development company (office use). Tamara Frisch Both structures are expected to look similar, but still clearly distinguishable. They are relatively far apart, in order to give each other space, distance and sovereignty; they are receiving facades which are similar but not exactly the same; one building... More

Heritage Cloisters

Surrounded by soaring towers, the unique heritage landmark Cloisters is a fine example of the Victorian Tudor style of architecture, demonstrating a sensitive use of local materials. Built in 1858 and extended in 1879, Heritage Cloisters is one of a small number of remaining convict-built colonial buildings of the mid-nineteenth century. Silvertone Photography Buchan’s approach was to respect and preserve the structure’s authenticity, to preserve the building’s historical and cultural value. We undertook design conservation works to the existing brick façades which were seriously eroded from the face by exposure over time. Replacement bricks were hand-picked for their colour and hardness of the original brick... More
