Spira
As Drottninghög undergoes a major transformation, Spira emerges as its new 8,000 m² landmark, designed by LINK Arkitektur together with 3Hus. The project reflects a new identity for the district, balancing housing, public spaces, and a neighbourhood library at its base to foster social cohesion and vibrant urban life.
Rising gradually from three to sixteen floors, the building is both an urban marker on the skyline and a human-scale presence at street level. Its monolithic form is softened by dynamic balconies, tactile materials, and shared roof terraces. Green zones and active edge spaces invite people to gather, creating smooth transitions between public and private realms.

Thatched community library in Ecuadorian Amazon is sublime expression of local culture and building techniques
Quito-based architectural studio Al Borde has completed the Yuyarina Pacha Community Library in Huaticocha. This small community is located in the buffer zone of the Sumaco Biosphere Reserve in the Ecuadorian Amazon. “Yuyarina Pacha” translates as “Space-Time to Think” in Kichwa, a Quechuan language of Ecuador and Colombia. The library’s thatched structure is a sublime expression of local culture and building techniques.
