Bachgraben Public Pool Restaurant
Total renovation and conversion of a 1960s concrete service building
The public swimming pool Gartenbad Bachgraben was built in 1962 after plans by Otto and Walter Senn in collaboration with the engineer Heinz Hossdorf. The concrete buildings distributed across the site are exemplary of post-war modernism and are listed in the inventory of the Basel-Stadt monument preservation authorities. The service building directly next to the main entrance to the pool grounds had only been partially renovated since its construction and was in need of a complete refurbishment. The staff areas no longer met the current use requirements and the restaurant had not been in operation since 2011 due to various issues.

Yozgat Swimming Pool
The Yozgat Swimming Pool has been conceived as a multifunctional public building with the potential to transform the city’s social life. The program, which includes an Olympic pool, a thermal pool, and a water park, not only supports sporting activities but also offers a holistic recreational experience that appeals to different age groups and social segments.

The design develops around distinct spatial focal points allocated to users. The spatial organization, which separates male and female uses, particularly emphasizes opportunities for women to socialize. This approach aims to transform the building into not only a sports facility but also a social hub that integrates into everyday life.

RAUM completes the meticulous rehabilitation and extension of a community swimming pool
French architectural studio RAUM architectes has completed the meticulous rehabilitation and extension of a community swimming pool in Saint-Méen-le-Grand, a town in Brittany, France. The studio’s design marries old and new to create a unitary whole.
