This next phase of our Client’s corporate campus included a conference centre, golf simulator and café, universal washroom, and separate office spaces for special project teams.  These spaces were created to expand the office amenities and complete the floor plate, which they partially occupied. The legero united campus near Graz consists of two differently sized rings. Generous glazing, the facade of bronze-coloured anodised aluminium that changes in sunlight and the lushly planted inner courtyards blur the boundaries between inside and outside. The larger office ring can be topped up by an additional floor at any time. This meets the customer’s desire for a ‘growing’ corporate headquarter that can be extended in stages without producing a temporary measure. Take one imposing building, consisting of three separate areas, serving a very diverse clientele, and turn it into one giant living area that caters to the need of all. That, in a nutshell, was the challenge in renovating Amsterdam’s Hotel Casa. Founded in the late 1950s to help solve the housing shortage for students, Casa has always been a hybrid of sorts, serving as the (temporary) home of hotel guests, locals, student residents and people attending a board meeting or conference. History and contemporary architectural visions are coming together and creating the new highlight of the city. The new building for the Central Fine Collection Agency (CJIB) is a striking and timeless building to house a comfortable and modern working environment. The building is open, light and transparent. The maximally open façade of the offices has a second skin to meet all the criteria for climatisation, comfort and sustainability. This second skin consists of narrow, curved glass panels and is draped around the volume like an ethereal veil. Since the building is raised above a half-sunken parking facility and has rounded corners, it seems to float about its green surroundings.
