The Wasatch House is a celebration of materiality and a subtle homage to the cinematic history of Los Angeles. The street-facing elevation is conceived as a false façade, referencing the constructed façades of film sets. Rising 22 feet in height, this monolithic composition of board-formed concrete, dark frosted glass, and steel establishes a strong architectural presence while mediating between public and private realms. Beyond setting the tone for the residence behind it, the façade provides privacy from the street while still permitting front-facing windows and doors, allowing daylight to enter the home from all orientations.
