Conen Sigl transforms the site of a former Swiss plant nursery into a cooperative housing complex
Switzerland-based architecture studio Conen Sigl has transformed a former plant nursery plot near Zurich into a vibrant cooperative housing project. 'Westhof Dübendorf' is situated in an area that was once an industrial and commercial zone but which has been rezoned for residential use. The project blends historical inspiration with modern ecological design, with the ambitions of fostering a strong sense of community and connectivity among residents and with the greater neighborhood.

Tribune Tower
The Tribune Tower is one of Chicago’s most treasured historic landmarks. Originally constructed in 1925 and designed by Raymond Hood and John Mead Howells, the tower was located adjacent to an existing printing plant. In 1935, the Radio Building was added to the site, followed by the Television Building in 1950. In 2018, the Chicago Tribune vacated the building and SCB was engaged to convert the 34-story Chicago landmark office tower and surrounding buildings into 162 luxury condominium units.

Shop Converted to a Flat, Marchmont, Edinburgh
Our client owned this Victorian shop in Marchmont, Edinburgh for several years. They commissioned Capital A to re-design the shop as a two bedroom flat. This was a challenge, as the property is in a conservation area and the layout is not simple.

Creating a design which satisfied the planners, and also the building regulations, was a challenge. Preserving as much of the original shop front and internal features was a priority but the client had a keen desire for a modern layout.
