Curl Curl 04

A new multi-level family home with outdoor entertaining pavilion and swimming pool. The floor plan on this steeply sloping site was pulled apart to create a landscaped courtyard with a staircase and glazed bridge link allowing northern light to permeate the building. A material palette of off-form concrete, face brickwork and timber gives a raw, natural aesthetic while also being practical, enduring finishes in a coastal environment. As the building steps down the hill, roof gardens have been used to give a pleasant outlook from the upper floors, also providing excellent thermal mass for temperature regulation. 450 Washington

Situated on the edge of the Hudson River in Tribeca, 450 Washington was reclad in a warm limestone plaster and new brushed carbon finish windows, reinvigorating the site. The various forms of the building are stitched together with a grid that peels away as the building rises, taking advantage of the views of the Hudson River. James Wing Photo James Wing Photo A central courtyard breaks apart the block, providing a space of refuge. A cantilevered canopy brings guests from the street through a new vegetated courtyard to the double height lobby. On the 12th floor, a rooftop terrace harnesses the impressive outdoor space and water views in the heart of Manhattan. James Wing Photo More

Santa Monica Courtyard Houses

“Title 24” (California’s Building Energy Efficiency Standards) inspired the design of the net-zero homes. We see the state’s recently implemented code as an opportunity to reinvent the Southern California single family dwelling. While a midcentury Case Study-type glass house is still possible under Title 24, that home would require high embodied energy materials and consume lots of power, undermining the Energy Standards’ aims. Instead, the Santa Monica Courtyard Houses assume a different look and feel that is more suitable to current climate conditions. Having far fewer windows, the outside form reduces the amount of heat gain and lowers energy use while still allowing residents to enjoy indoor-outdoor living... More

Bartok

Barcode Architects developed an apartment complex with urban allure and contemporary architecture that subtly fits into its context along the Bartokplein in the Arnhem city center. The project consists of 62 inviting urban dwellings with a varied commercial program in the plinth, further enhancing the liveliness of the Bartokplein. The apartments are accessed via a spacious and attractive courtyard. Hans Wilschut Hans Wilschut The project is characterized by its striking building volume with large folded-back terraces and its distinctive differentiated façade. By folding the top two layers inwards, the massive volume is fragmented, giving it a grain size that fits with the area. As a result the volume aligns with the small... More

New Public School _ extention block

STORY BOARD PHASE 01 BLOCK -So as to create spaces where a student and teacher can come together and interact , we decided to anchor the new proposed blocks along the periphery of the space and orient them towards the central larger gathering space. A series of courtyards were perceived such that one big space gets sub volumes and the journey from one space to another is like unfolding of spaces offering discoveries of new elements , each time a student or a teacher moves from A to B . This series of unfolding volumes retains the child like curiosity inside a student Purnesh Dev EXTENTION BLOCK 01 - KINDERGARTEN SCHOOLCOURTYARD AND THE PAVILLION SEATING This block was planned around a courtyard in such a way that all the classes loo...
