Home Again

What should a second home feel like—an escape, a pause, or simply somewhere that draws you back? In Satara, this 1,200 sq ft apartment by architect Vaishnavi Shinde, founding principal of Pune-based VSA Design Studio, is shaped around that in-between. Designed as a secondary residence for a businessman, his wife, and their two college-going sons, it is a home they return to when they want life to feel a little lighter. The brief was simple: follow Vastu Shastra principles, keep the palette minimal, and make sure the two-bedroom home is easy to maintain. From there, the design finds its rhythm in small, deliberate moves. Architectural Captures by Abhishek Chavhan “We were introduced to the site during its initial brickwor... More

Casa Antonelli

“Casa Antonelli” is a two-level apartment located in the heart of historic Turin, overlooking a tree-lined square. The living area and study occupy the entrance floor, while the mezzanine hosts two bedrooms with private bathrooms.  Marco Popescu Custom-made furnishings with softened edges wrap around the existing masonry walls, creating fluid connections between spaces. Oak wood, earthy tones, and deep green accents define the interiors, balancing monolithic volumes with soft, curved forms. The upper floor, characterized by lower ceilings and vaulted geometries, offers a more intimate and welcoming atmosphere. Marco Popescu Marco Popescu More

Home of Chirmi

When a family of furniture designers approaches you to design their home, it’s not aneasy feat. It’s never simple to harmonise two different schools of thought, especiallywhen both come with strong design sensibilities and yet, it shaped into a collaborationthat felt natural and balanced. For a family of three, this home resonates with a quiet sense of calm. Studio Way Caption Caption Caption Caption Caption Caption Caption They wanted a palette that wasn’t too loud, one that would gently settle in their eyes and sync with their energies. And hence shades of wood wrap the spaces, complemented by sleek metal craftsmanship. Soft, muted tones form the base, with subtle pops of colour re... More

Vertex House

The main volumetric concept of the project came from the client's desire: she would like the house to be like a hut, perched on top of a traditional residence. Based on this conception, Vertex House emerged. The upper part, opaquer and with a regular but organic vertical texture, contrasts with the lower part, with open social areas integrated into the house's gardens. As for materiality, light wood and stone predominate, in addition to furniture designed exclusively for the project. The entire interior of the house was carefully thought out by the office, both fixed elements, such as bookshelves and the two-stone fireplace, as well as furniture, some designed exclusively for the project, such as the sideboard in the dining room, which make... CASA 2+1

In a 1950s residential complex in the urban core of Trieste, the project renovates a compact 60-square-meter apartment. The original layout—characterized by rigid compartmentalization and disproportionate room dimensions—proved difficult to adapt to contemporary living. At the same time, the apartment benefited from a favorable position that allowed generous natural ventilation and daylight, qualities that became the starting point for a more open and connected spatial organization. Davide Maria Palusa Davide Maria Palusa The intervention explores strategies for rethinking small-scale housing. Rather than radically altering the plan, the project works through precise adjustments that unlock spatial qualities already p... More

Hempcrete House

On the edge of the Danube River in the town of Szentendre, Hungary, Projectroom—the Hungarian architecture collaboration led by married architects Veronika Juhász and Gábor Fábián—has completed an ecoconscious family home that embodies a philosophy of temperance and sustainability rather than material abundance. As the pair explain: “Our current way of life is not sustainable. A paradigm shift is necessary.” The home, which they designed and built for themselves, is constructed from hempcrete, lime plaster, wood and locally sourced materials. With a total gross floor area of approximately 105 square meters and a minimal budget, the home emphasises proportion and intentional living, not si... More

Apartment Psyhiko

Phase One: New floor plan For this charming apartment in Psychiko, Athens  I was asked to redesign the living room while maintaining the existing floor plan as much as possible. The original layout featured a separate entrance hall and a kitchen connected through a hallway that led to the private quarters. The challenge was to create a more open, functional space while preserving the apartment’s unique character. Vasso Paraschi The transformation involved several key interventions: _The door from the private quarters was closed off to improve the kitchen’s configuration _The entrance hall walls were removed to create an open-plan living space _The kitchen was connected directly to the living room area The... YKB sculptural commode

The YKB commode is a sculptural storage piece that combines functional cabinetry with a strong architectural presence. Its rhythmic relief runs across the entire front, creating a distinctive three-dimensional surface while naturally forming the integrated handles. Originally designed for a private residence in Prague, the YKB Commode is part of the wider YKB Collection, which explores the relationship between furniture, architecture and sculptural form. Its generous horizontal proportions make it suitable as a statement storage piece for residential interiors, hospitality projects and other considered spaces.   Crafted in solid ash wood in the Czech Republic, the commode is finished in a matte moss green with fluorescent orang...
