Sage Bungalow

This newly renovated kitchen sits within an existing 1920s bungalow in Maungawhau Mt Eden, Auckland. The house, located at the end of a quiet suburban cul-de-sac, is a charming example of the Californian bungalow typology, with classic detailing, tongue and groove floorboards, high ceilings, kauri panelling and colourful leadlights among the existing features.  The back of the house however, had been modified with an aesthetically jarring 1980s addition. It looked out of place and had reached the end of its serviceable life. Working with our client, we sought to revitalise and reimagine the kitchen in ways that were sympathetic to the heritage, detail and craft of the existing bungalow. It was, however, an exercise in creating new ide... More

In compact spaces colour and texture take on greater significance. For Pac Studio, this reworking of a tired and dated townhouse kitchen and bathroom was also an opportunity to continue our research into colour: How it defines identity, delineates space, affects mood and atmosphere. Here, the bathroom could signal the start of a fresh and sunny day; the kitchen could provide a calming and quiet place to cook in the evening and close the day with a cup of coffee. Caption Caption The starting point was the rearrangement of space for efficiency. The relocated laundry freed up space for an additional guest bathroom. Lifting the ceiling height in the bathroom transformed the sense of space. New doors from the kitchen connect with a lo... More

P.H. Condesa

Located in the Condesa neighborhood, this apartment belongs to a young couple with an active social life who approached us with the request to reconfigure their social area. The initial assessment revealed a narrow, enclosed kitchen that disrupted the flow of the public space within the home. With the understanding that the kitchen often becomes the heart of gatherings and social events, we proposed a layout centered around a large table that serves both as a food preparation area and a communal hub. This move redefined the kitchen as an open, versatile, and welcoming space. According to the Bauhaus philosophy, a kitchen came into place that interprets the guiding principle of "form follows function" in a way that is suitable for everyday use. The kitchen features fronts in timeless crystal white that are easy to care and robust, which give the minimalist cubic design language plenty of space to achieve their effect. The overall impression is a calm, harmonious radiance. More

The freestanding cooking area in ceramic concrete grey imitation appears to have been hewn from a single block. The low plinth lets the cooking area appear to float while the clear line of gaps without handles or grip ledges lets purist hearts skip a beat. Drawers and pull-outs equipped with the mechanical opening aid TIP-ON make this design version possible. In fact, the kitchen contains everything needed to make life easier, such as „Primus“ drawer inserts with spice dispensers, knife block and inserts for foil rolls, handy Flex-Boxes that keep drawers and units neast and tidy, next125 cube, the intelligent recess system, and wall units with doors that open at a push. The functional technology centre houses the oven and and ste... The handleless kitchen system of next125 allows a design which stresses the reduced form and emphasizes the material. The perfect glass fronts of nx902 in satinated finish stand for gentle elegance and discreet exclusivity. Solid and veneered wood surfaces in natural knotty oak provide the kitchen with space for individuality. The shelf of 2.5 cm thick side panels in library style acts as an element of the living area and resolves the character of the kitchen as a pure working space. Repeatedly used in the wall units, the brushed knotty oak brings warmth into the white kitchen. Not only elegant but also very helpful is the recess system with next125 cube elements. Knives, cooking tools, oil & vinegar, or even entire power strips disapp... More

The dialogue between the dark front in Ceramic marble nero effect and warm wood creates an atmosphere that is reminiscent of a chic bar. Particularly the floating, backlit shelf element perfectly underscores the impression, just as the wall-mounted base units that emphasise the horizontal axis. Their finely marbled surface gives them a particularly exclusive, quality look. The deliberately chosen chunky worktop adds character and underscores the solid look. There must, of course, be no lack of clever details, such as the innovative drawer interior organisers in moulded nonwoven material which are particularly kind on cutlery. The internal drawers preserve the calm look of the front panel architecture. The light-footed cooking table with its... More

Room to breathe: with its matt glass surfaces in agate grey and the L shape that leaves room for a generous dining area, the kitchen exudes a comfortable feel. A gas fireplace and the bookshelf that is integrated into the kitchen front underline the kitchen‘s homely character. More

In this kitchen, the free-standing base unit with fronts in glass matt platinum metallic, centrally positioned between the tall units, is an eyecatcher. Behind the retractable doors, there is a concealed storage space for electrical appliances. The colour play of the fronts in matt glass creates a ludic contrast between the coarse, dark surface of the knotty oak. Furthermore, the colour of the tall units is continued in the 2,5 cm thick support panel shelf in the dining area. Due to the reduced plinth height of only 5 cm, the island unit takes on the character of a sideboard and thus appears more like a piece of furniture than a kitchen furnishing. The two tall units contribute to the homely athmosphere as well. Thanks to the reduced design... More

Rich colours are set off to best effect when alternated with natural tones. In this example, vibrant ruby red and dark wood veneer enter into a fiery liasion. The open, generous planning exudes a cosy ambience: a sociable island in ruby red is accompanied by tall units with retractable doors and sideboard. The elegant glass worktop lends the combination an exclusive touch. More

In a former workshop for funiture that has been transformed into a loft, the monochrome kitchen island nx510 in sahara beige matt velvet that almost seems to float is standing in front of unfinished walls and striking concrete. Thanks to the visually reduced island frame in onyx black with its slender legs, it lends a feeling of filigree lighness. With its overall effect of cubic minimalism, the island proves to be a stand-alone communicative piece in the casual kitchen architecture. Highlight of the planning: the tall unit with four retractable doors that is standing in the background. Not only, it hides a part of the kitchen but it is also an architectural design feature. Everything is hidden behind retractable doors that open directly by... More
