taz Neubau - Publishing House for taz newspaper
After 25 years at the Rudi-Dutschke-Strasse across from Checkpoint Charlie, the Berlin daily newspaper moves a block further south. The purchase of the plot Friedrichstrasse 20-22 allows the taz to unite its roughly 250 employees in the future media quarters next to the Bessel Park under one roof again.The architectural design of the new house for the taz recalls the Moscow "Shabolovka" radio tower by Vladimir G. Shukhov from the early 1920s. Its structural system, conceived as a network, attempts to reach the greatest possible load capacity with the fewest possible elements.The main structure is composed of diagonal bracings along the periphery of the building envelope and therefore does not require any additional support on the inside. Deaconry Bethanien
The plane-like building volume can be interpreted as a solitary gesture. The orthogonal form of the plane plays off of the typologies present in the surrounding urban fabric, which is characterized by manufacturing plants. The diagonal relationships resulting from this strategy create the basis for the structure of the exterior spaces.The deaconry consists of a complex set of interrelated functions; this arose out of necessity in the coordination of the intended nursing and assistance programs, particularly in regard to the extensive infrastructure required to create the most possible synergies. Europaallee, Baufeld H
Europaallee is one of the largest real estate developments in the heart of Zurich and lies just beyond the main train station. Our site is the final of eight total new constructions and is directly adjacent to the multicultural and rather infamous urban “Langstrasse” district. The complex is comprised of a mixed-use site that juxtaposes a hotel, office space, apartments, restaurants, a nursery, an event space, a cinema, a school, and retail space.
