Zayed University - Dubai
Design Infinity was contracted for the fit out of the new Zayed University campus design in Dubai. Upon walking in, it’s hard to imagine that this is a university, as one gets the sense of more a contemporary cool five star resort. The overall design is slick, with a base palette of wood that has been used in unique and unconventional yet incredibly challenging and aesthetically pleasing ways. Cloud like lighting drops down from the double height ceilings and the natural atmosphere that is replicated is reminiscent of a modern, stylised forest. Special touches include a table tennis table that is made out of wood and seems to blend into its surroundings beautifully.

Maple Grove Elementary School
Under the Seismic Mitigation Program, and in collaboration with Montgomery Sisam Architects (MSA) from Toronto, SHAPE Architecture completed the Project Definition Report for the existing Maple Grove Elementary, which was approved by the Ministry of Education in March 2017 for a full replacement school. The team immediately embarked on facilitating numerous workshops with the school community including parents, teachers and students. During these workshops, the stakeholder groups developed a set of Design Principles which, along with the Vancouver Board of Education Design Principles, would guide the design of the new school.

Qurio / Cultivating Curiosity
“Fairytales and curiosity inspired the design; ideas such as ‘breadcrumbs’ as colourful geometries on the floor, ‘keyholes’ windows for peeking through walls, and curvy white acoustic ceiling panels that float above like clouds.” — Kenny Kinugasa-Tsui, co-founder of Bean Buro
“We created an adaptable environment for different spatial setups. The idea is similar to a theatre stage. Young learners can choose how they would like to engage with the class.” — Lorène Faure, co-founder of Bean Buro

Ladybird Nursery Al Barsha
Open classrooms and shared learning spaces throughout the nursery create an unrestrained and boundary-free environment while the abundance of natural daylight through the large, glazed façade and well-positioned skylights open up the spaces to create a bright environment for children and teachers. Stepping inside this new school the interiors are light, bright with pastel tones and, of course, ladybirds that delineate the different areas.
Chris Goldstraw
The scale of the classrooms is governed by the age groups and the age group defines the placement and of sizes of various elements in the teaching rooms. The youngest children are placed nearest to reception for ease of access for buggies, while the one to two year olds have th... More

Atelier Li Xiaodong completes the open and interactive Shenzhen College of International Education (SCIE)
In the sub-tropical city centre of Shenzhen, the Shenzhen College of International Education (SCIE) by Atelier Li Xiaodong is designed to accommodate over 2000 students and 200 teachers. With a site area of approximately 20,000 m2 and a required floor area of over 100,000 m2, a plot ratio approaching almost five posed a great challenge for the architects in terms of providing enough sports facilities within the tight campus while at the same time allowing for cross-ventilation and an open feeling.

Due to space constraints, the sports program was divided into sixteen different units which are incorporated into the building complex on a variety of different levels, adding flexibility, playfulness, interaction, efficiency... More
