Gemini TU Eindhoven
The starting point in designing a renovation for this university building is Gemini’s characteristic existing architecture and the unique spatial layout with different floor heights for research and offices.
Brutalist beginningsBuilt in the seventies, Gemini houses the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Eindhoven University of Technology, and was designed by architect and urban designer S.J. van Embden. The building consists of two volumes; a low-rise building for a practical workshop hall and a taller education building for formal academic learning. The twin buildings comprise educational and research facilities, including laboratories.

NEXT architects completes Waag Woensel-West as part of community-based revitalization project
NEXT architects has completed Waag Woensel-West, a key milestone in the two-decades-long redevelopment of Eindhoven’s Woensel-West neighborhood. A former working class area of the Dutch city, it is now considered a “hip neighborhood” with a mix of culture, creativity, and architecture, driven by a community-based approach.

Stefano Boeri Architetti presents the world’s first social housing Vertical Forest
In the city of Eindhoven (NL), Stefano Boeri Architetti presents the first social housing Vertical Forest in the world. Drawing experience from their world-famous Bosco Verticale in Milan, the 19-storey residential tower features 135 trees of various species on each of its four facades along with 10,000 shrubs and plants of a smaller size.

In total, the building accommodates 125 apartments for predominantly low-income individuals, with an emphasis on providing housing for young couples. Though the flats are small, coming in at less than 50 square meters, a sense of expansiveness is offered by terraces that are more than 4 square meters. Each balcony includes one tree and twenty shrubs.
