Woodfac Panel

WOODFAC Panel is a closed façade system that wraps your building in real wood while quietly handling the hard work behind the scenes. Wooden lamellae sit on a structure of 100% recycled Greenline® aluminium, forming a breathable climate screen that protects the building without trapping moisture — the look of a timber façade, with the performance of a modern rainscreen. Every lamella is FSC®- or PEFC™-certified and fire-impregnated with a Cradle to Cradle–certified, natural flame retardant, reaching fire classifications up to B-s1,d0 (EN 14915 / EN 16755). The wood is thermally treated for dimensional stability, so the façade stays true year after year — with no painting or treatment req... More

New building in Montreal by MU Architecture tells a tale of two facades

In Montreal, Quebec, Le Petit Laurent is a newly constructed residential and commercial building that tells a tale of two facades. Designed by Montreal-based MU Architecture, the building’s design demonstrates an interplay between heritage and innovation in contemporary architecture. Nicolas Fransolet Nicolas Fransolet Le Petit Laurent replaces a previous run-down structure with a low footprint (just 62 percent); the area’s permitted low density necessitated the construction of a compact, highly optimized building. Occupying the entire site, Le Petit Laurent faces onto two streets in Montreal — Saint-Laurent Boulevard and Clark Street. This provided MU Architecture with the opportunity to conceive two d... Apartment tower facade designed by ACDF Architecture evokes memories of Montreal’s Victorian homes

“Link” is a 19-story contemporary apartment tower in the Shaughnessy Village neighborhood of Montreal, Quebec. Designed by Canadian architectural firm ACDF Architecture, Link meets a growing demand for student housing, while its architecture celebrates the built heritage of its location. Link’s design incorporates the existing facades of three Victorian dwellings and creates a dialogue with the adjacent mid-century concrete buildings. Piraeus Tower

Originally completed in 1975 but left largely unoccupied for decades, Piraeus Tower stood as a symbol of unfinished ambition at the port of Piraeus. Rising 88 meters, the building's concrete shell was long known as the "sleeping giant" of the port. Its recent transformation into a contemporary mixed-use tower marks a major shift in both architectural and urban terms. Led by PILA, the project reactivates the structure through a comprehensive facade retrofit and reprogramming of common spaces, aligning it with the broader regeneration of Piraeus as a dynamic, livable district. Detail: Red facade and triangular plot create distinctive apartment building in Barcelona

Barcelona-based architectural studios MIAS Architects and Coll-Leclerc have completed the development of a distinctive apartment building complex containing 72 social housing units. The building is defined by its triangular plot and red facade, a reference to the area in which it is located. MIAS Architects and Coll-Leclerc Architects Adrià Goula La Marina del Prat Vermell is a neighborhood in the Sants-Montjuïc district of Barcelona. The area was once home to a number of textile colonies. Established in the mid-19th century, these colonies lay to the south of Montjuic (a hill with historical significance in Barcelona), close to the sea. Fabrics were dyed and then laid out on meadows to dry. The ground acquire... More

Refah Bank

The project focused on designing a model facade for Refah Kargaran Bank branches that can be used across different parts of the city, despite the varying scales and sizes of the branches. The initial design idea revolved around a frame that covers the entire facade of the bank. The frames are structured to be stepped, forming three continuous surfaces that can be moved wherever required to accommodate the entrance and ATM spaces, regardless of their location on the facade. If the entrance and ATM are too close to each other, they can collide to minimize shell crowding in one section. The entrance space and ATM are designed to invite passers-by to a larger space, highlighting the change in the hierarchy of the surfaces. Caption Capti... More

Tranquil

The Tranquil apartment is located at the end of the food street, in V.V Puram, Bangalore. The structure is strategically layered between the residential locality and the ever bustling and lively food street. The area adorns a contemporary character from the contrasting old colonial structures and temples. The design team wanted the characteristic of the surrounding area to be portrayed in the façade. The inside out façade allows the inmates to be in ode with nature. This also allows ample sunlight to veil the interiors. The entire apartment complex needs no artificial light for most part of the day. An open mouthed, wedge shaped feature on the façade cladded with wooden finished high-pressure laminates, denotes its ada... More

The commercial complex planned in Jigani, an industrial and marble trader’s hub, in the suburbs of Bangalore. The program of the structure was clear in client’s brief. Rippled Facade

The building is located in Industrial campus in suburb of Bangalore. Set in atmosphere of good natural vegetation. The program of the building is of secondary in nature, than primary manufacturing units. The structure accommodates guest dining areas in the lower floor and managerial staff quarter’s in the upper level. The client’s brief was to build a contemporary and aesthetic façade but the budgets were shoe string tight. The natural green surroundings inspired the design team to design for outside – in façade, with large windows and provided large bay projections for further scope to relate better with nature. The shoe string tight budget, gave minimum scope for use of materiality layers. The design team... More
