The original house on this site was built in the style typical of its Bregenzerwald setting, but was partly destroyed in a fire. Reconstruction of the interwoven log structure was carried out by recycling components from other demolished buildings. Misguided alterations in the 1970s had a detrimental effect of the house’s hard-won character. The clients – a musician and an artist – share an awareness of their role as custodians of a high quality, historic architectural artefact and, by preserving the building in its essence, are eager to counteract the gradual obsolescence of the Bregenzerwald House typology. The moraines of the Inn Glacier are a geological feature and have left behind in the Tyrolean Inn Valley a landscape that dominates the valley floor in Innsbruck / Arzt by about 20 meters. These south-facing slope shoulders represent an outstanding settlement area.
