feld72 completes contextually sensitive infill townhouse development in Vienna

At Straußengasse 14 in the heart of Vienna's 5th district, an unusual vacant plot with a historic half-timbered house and workshop building provided an opportunity for a contextually sensitive infill development. Architectural studio feld72 designed a structure that respects the site’s existing heritage and addresses the pressure of urban densification (where appropriate infill development, for example, helps to arrest urban sprawl). Cotton Residence Vienna

Chic Living by the Stock Exchange   The corner avant-corps and towers remain the central design elements. The calm rooftop loft conversion assumes a glamorous yet understated side role.   The building in Vienna’s former rags neighborhood originally accommodated residential units and the Harlander cotton and yarn spinning factory, which inspired the name of the project. By 2018 the house in Vienna ’s inner district – until recently used as offices for the Telekom company – will be renovated back to its past glory: a residential building with luxurious apartments – just without the textile factory. Timeless Architecture in Dialogue with the City Schenker Salvi Weber and feld72 shape the new corporate headquarters of Post AG on Vienna’s Rochusmarkt. The building ensemble is a composition of the highest quality which not only skilfully combines old and new but also features contemporary interior architecture which is distinguished by the open communication areas in the offices and the design of the mall.
