This 450m2e home has been completely renovated and expanded on both the second floor and the ground floor. The extended living room offers extra living space on the ground floor and integrates the garden and terrace almost seamlessly into the interior. Three enormous sliding glass doors of 3×1.8 meters each ensure this. The sliding doors by Sky Frame have a barely visible frame and the frame is concealed in the walls, floor and ceiling. Y House

The design and construction of the Y House has evolved over a 5 year period, the result is a bespoke home designed to the specific needs and requirements of the client. The site is a large corner plot in the garden of the client’s existing home. It has extensive views through pine trees, over fields to the west and north, and residential neighbours to the south and east. Adjacent to the site on two sides is a 3m deep storm drain. This constraint resulted in a pile foundation design solution. The building form and layout evolved through close collaboration and discussion between the client and architect. Skyline House

The project was proposed for a young family, who desired an open plan home that embraced the views of the bay and a connection to the existing garden. The design consists of channeling or framing the views from the West side of the property into the house and through to the garden area on the East side. Enveloping the open plan common space in a wood tube becomes the connector between the garden and viewing deck.The property has large redwood trees at the two longitudinal sides of the property, thus channeling ones focus from the front garden area to the to back views.
