Springdale
forresterarchitects has enlivened a London townhouse, transforming it with a bright and airy design approach. The traditional London townhouse has some issues with its thermal performance, and with the client, we were determined to address them through this refurbishment.
As energy costs continue to rise, the project is an opportunity to reevaluate the house's thermal efficiency and steer clear of relying on a gas boiler to provide an alternative energy solution. The air source heat pump is an increasingly viable option for a large townhouse. Concealed to the front of the house it is discreetly located below street level.

On a rest plot of land between 2 driveways of a nursing home at the back, an existing house with garden shed made way for 2 compact, linked three-fronted houses with an atypical layout and unusual views.

The site is located in a typical Flemish municipality. The newly built houses follow the profile of the adjacent neighbour. The two starter homes are set back-to-back but together form 1 volume, 1 coherent whole.
