The Hydrogen Cloud: Microclimate Infrastructure for City Centre of Vaduz
The Hydrogen Cloud” is an adaptive microclimate infrastructure designed to revitalize the historic town hall square in Vaduz, Liechtenstein. Utilizing a system of programmable cable tensioners, the ultra-lightweight canopy dynamically adjusts to wind conditions, providing year-round protection from sun and precipitation. Engineered to support Vaduz’s frequent civic fairs, the structure doubles as an interactive projection canvas. Crucially, the project serves as a conceptual manifesto to overcome the historical "Hindenburg Syndrome." By safely implementing modern hydrogen dynamics in a high-visibility public space, it rehabilitates the element and sets a pioneering, net-zero blueprint for climate-resilient alpine urbanism.
