Three Gables Residence
Perched on ten acres in the hills overlooking Napa Valley, this contemporary family home is defined by a triad of gable roof structures. After a wildfire decimated their property, the clients were determined to rebuild a modern, resilient home that embraced the area’s agrarian vernacular and the father’s European roots.

Jeongdongjin – The Eastern Edge of Korea
The new office of Architecture Studio YEIN is located in Jeongdongjin, a coastal village along Korea's East Sea. The name Jeongdongjin originates from its position “a village located directly east of Gwanghwamun in Hanyang, once home to a riverside ferry.” This tranquil seaside community, primarily composed of rural farming and fishing villages, features small coastal harbors and fields stretching inland. The site for the office lies on the outskirts of the village, in a field where the ever-changing seasons are vividly experienced.

In Aspen’s historic West End neighborhood, a classic 1890s Victorian-Era home is carefully restored to its original form after years of non-historic additions and renovations. The Victorian is stabilized and reinforced, renovated, and linked to a contemporary addition and newly excavated lower-level basement.

MJA Studio reinstates a neglected Local corner site into a vibrant community space
Australian suburbs corner stores have long been communal spaces than mere public utilities; they not only encourage walkability but also offer the residents a place to interact and socialise. With the overtaking of commercial supermarket chains and petrol stations, the neighbourhood lost its zestful character as a public space. Therefore, to revitalise this neglected corner site, a passionate local of Mt Lawley collaborated with MJA Studio to design a mixed-use project to enrich the area.

Explore the generous and flowing ambience of House R in Albstadt
With a south-facing façade fully glazed up to the top of its pitched gable roof, this house was designed by Dietrich l Untertrifaller Architekten to take advantage of views over the rolling landscape of Germany’s Swabian Alps while also serving as a future-oriented example of sustainable building materials.

Wood, glass and concrete are the main materials that characterise the design. While the basement floor is constructed with exposed concrete, the upper floors of the house are built as a timber structure. Inside, walls and ceilings are clad with silver wood, while floors are finished with ash wood. Contrasting against the light colour of the wood is a kitchen unit made up of black Nanotech panels.

This house is built in a privileged location, within Funchal’s amphitheatre, a renovation of a small pre-existing stone house that was kept untouched except for an external thermal insulation. Two new elements were added: an annex and a pitched roof, replacing but keeping the footprint of unruly previously built add-on constructions.
A light steel frame construction system was used in the new bodies which facilitated their assembly. Predominately natural materials were used for their inherent quality and environmental awareness by reducing toxic waste on site and the use of plastics and resins.
