Hill House

Because the owner of this house wanted a residence that stands out and is unique, the designer architect began the project by considering the context of the location first. With the original environment consisting of a lake and trees, the architects designed the house to become a complete visual extension of its context. A white house on a black rock mountain amidst nature was the answer, relying on the context and the needs of the residents. Weerapon Singnoi Weerapon Singnoi Weerapon Singnoi By bending the gravel wall back and forth to imitate natural rocks, a form emerged that defied usual geometry, serving as a metaphor for a rocky mountain. This approach distinguished it from the residence, which is a pure white box. Cho... More

Tilleuls

Tilleuls project is a typical example of housing in residential areas. The partition of the house has been redesigned. The side of the entrance is changed to face the street and create a filter between public and private. The ground floor... More

Belle Gabrielle

Clients asked us to make a central island unit in their kitchen. Although the space is narrow and long, they wanted this way of cooking. philippe billard We took this constraint of the narrowness and pushed it to its limit. The result is a very long black rectangle of 3.60m long made of granite. There is just enough space on both sides to cook and walk. philippe billard On one hand a wooden storage separates the house’s secondary entrance from the kitchen. Light and view on the vegetation come from above this cupboard. The door is hidden and a vine cave is integrated in the middle, as the continuity of the counter top. Beaumarchais

SituationProject Beaumarchais takes place in a little alley, calm and vegetal, sheltered from the noisy neighborhood. The former commercial unit has to be transformed into a loft. Philippe Billard Act without alteringExisting materials are left «as found», just painted in white. The partition of the space is organized in layers from the most private functions in the back to the public ones close to the facade. Gambetta

The real estate market in big cities like Paris is more and more tense. Rents shoot up whereas surface areas decrease. In this context, people are more and more obliged to live in small spaces. Especially for students or low incomes, studios from 10 to 15m² are becoming the norm. For architects, this new Type of living is challenging because it forces us to maximize the feeling of space and the quality of living. Philippe Billard Our young architectural atelier, miogui, had to refurbish a micro-studio, Gambetta, of 12.75m² in Paris, located in a former hotel. The existing situations are banal, a bathroom too big for the space, one window in the bathroom, one other in the main space, a little kitchen, a big wardrobe, a bed. T... More

Stendhal

After refurbishing a first studio in Paris 20e, our office miogui was asked for a second one in the same building. It’s almost the same space, with some little differences, that create a different plan, with the same concept. The existing situation is banal, a bathroom too big for the space, one window in the bathroom, one other in the main space, a little kitchen, a big wardrobe, a bed. The main question we want to answer is: How can the space look bigger ? Philippe Billard FEELING OF A BIGGER SPACE Our first action was to destroy the bathroom’s wall to give back the second window for the living space. It is important for us to give the maximum space and light to the living room by compacting as much as we could technical... More

CASA GLAG

A growing family sets out the necessity of enlarge their home of three rooms and 85m2 by adding a second apartment, originally with two rooms and 60m2. The main premise to keep in mind is that the family has to be able to keep on living in their own home during the construction course.   The morphologic analysis of the original apartment emphasize that the night space presented a functional distribution of three rooms and two bathrooms, with minimum circulation area and a suitable size.
