Childhood in War
Imperial War Museum has opened its leading exhibition for summer 2026 at IWM London. Childhood in War focuses on the impact of war on children and is additionally notable for being the first ever UK exhibition to look specifically at how war affects and shapes younger lives.
The exhibition and graphic design for the exhibition are by architects and exhibition designers Nissen Richards Studio, a London-based practice with a global portfolio and over fifty creative awards to their name, including three RIBA National Awards. IWM and Nissen Richards Studio have collaborated on six previous projects for both IWM London and IWM North.

Lifeblood
A ground-breaking exhibition that positions fascinating historical objects from the world of medicine alongside contemporary artworks by Edvard Munch is now open at MUNCH, Oslo. The exhibition, curated by Allison Morehead and designed by Nissen Richards Studio (exhibition and graphic design) is called Lifeblood - or ‘Livsblod’ in Norwegian. Running until September 21st, the exhibition considers Munch’s relationship with medicine throughout his lifetime, featuring a chronological approach with different themes coming into focus in each section.

This project grows on the concept of Aaron Nieh Workshop: to dissolve the form of space, avoid “becoming,” but embrace the occasional perching and happening.Located in The Pier 2 Base, the space is transformed from an old warehouse of First Bank. We want to inherit the story of the space by keeping the originally exposed structure, and the old number marks on the warehouse. All repaired surfaces are plastered and painted to match the aging space, making the chill and nourishing atmosphere consistent.

The Jersey Museum and Art Gallery
Nissen Richards Studio has designed a new permanent exhibition for The Jersey Museum and Art Gallery. The exhibition has a thematic structure, featuring a group of stories arranged as ‘narrative islands’. The exhibition - ‘La Tèrr’rie d’Jèrri – d’s histouaithes dé not’ Île / Being Jersey – Stories of our Island’ – considers the island of Jersey through perspectives that are both literal and metaphorical, relating to the island as ‘sacred’, ‘exotic’ or ‘contested’, for example. Although individual, these narrative islands then come together to tell the story of the uniqueness of Jersey.

Paris 1924: Sport, Art and the Body
‘Paris 1924: Sport, Art and the Body’ is the new exhibition at The Fitzwilliam Museum, Cambridge, featuring exhibition and graphic design by architects and exhibition designers Nissen Richards Studio. The show, which opened on 19 July and runs until November, revisits the Paris Olympics of 1924, a seminal moment in terms of changes to the way sport was represented - and coinciding with the city hosting the summer games one hundred years later, with the Paris Olympics 2024 opening on 26 July.

Untold Lives
Nissen Richards Studio has completed the exhibition and graphic design for a new exhibition called ‘Untold Lives’ in the Pigott Galleries at Kensington Palace for client Historic Royal Palaces (the independent charity that cares for the Palace). The show, which runs until 27 October 2024, switches the focus to those who worked at the royal palaces in the 17th and 18th centuries, making the invisible newly visible and using multiple contemporary devices to bring their fascinating stories to life.

Upholding the Law
Nissen Richards Studio has completed designs for ‘Upholding the Law: Magnus the Lawmender’s Law of the Land, 1274-2024’, a refined, atmospheric and delicately-staged exhibition for The National Library of Norway. The show celebrates the 750th anniversary of the country’s 1274 ‘Law of the Land’, which laid the foundation for the Norwegian legal system and for popular participation in it – effectively establishing the prerequisites for democracy. The exhibition is the practice’s fifth completed show for The National Library of Norway and is now open until 14 September, 2024.

Bad Vibes
London-based architects and designers Nissen Richards Studio have completed their fourth exhibition for The National Library of Norway in Oslo. The exhibition deals with one of the most intriguing subjects the studio has dealt with to date – the musical phenomenon of Norwegian Black Metal, a cultural world-within-a-world described by the curators as a ‘primeval forest of emotions’.

The Shape of Freedom
The Shape of Freedom is a new, temporary exhibition at MUNCH in Oslo, which has just opened and is set to run to 21 May 2023. The exhibition brings together high-profile artworks from collections worldwide and examines the story of the great 20th century post-war art recovery, especially through the Transatlantic dialogue between the USA and Europe after the Second World War and the birth of abstract expressionism and its European counterpart, art informel.
