In the quiet area of Potamia, on the island of Thassos, where the mountainous landscape meets the presence of the sea, — two sibling residential complexes were designed: Helios and Selene. Two architectural compositions that engage in a subtle dialogue through light and shadow, day and night, water and land. The project location is in an off-plan area near the traditional settlement of Triantaros, in a plot with a fascinating view on the beach of Agios Sostis and Delos island. Our approach was based on two pillars: the view and the history. Thus, the thread of thought started with the orientation, the view, the wind, and the morphology. Our design base was archetype plans of ancient Greek temples adapted to the plot parameters. This project presents a two-level residence nestled in the heart of the traditional village of Sikinos on Sikinos Island. The structure deploys as a single volume arranged over two levels, connected by an external staircase that seamlessly integrates indoor and outdoor living. Located at the Southeast part of Karpathos, this site is already gifted with a wide view of the sea and the warm Aegean sunset. An 11-luxury villa development is strategically laid on the 6,530 sqm site while its landscape follows the natural topography allowing a centered green courtyard to develop as a breathing space between the volumes. The 11 villas make their appearance on the perimeter of the site, positioned in a way to allow endless views from all residences while providing privacy between the guests. A holiday house capturing its site’s features, rock formations, mature wild olive trees and spectacular views towards Ionian Sea. Upon a concrete base with an overhanging pool sit the walls, roof and canopy made from prefabricated timber. Caption The holiday house is located on a sea front plot on the western coast of an island, a site shaped by rock formations, a mature wild olive trees’ grove and spectacular views towards the Ionian Sea.
