Vertical Farm Hengshui
In China’s Hebei province, a dramatic new glass building is reimagining the future of food in metropolitan centres. Situated at the entry to the Hengshui International Horticultural Park and designed by van Bergen Kolpa Architects, the Vertical Farm—which glows violet at night—showcases new methods for food cultivation across four floors and 12,800 square meters.

House of a Thousand Leaves
On a long and narrow plot fronting a road junction, a semi-detached house of three and a half storey stands as a slim, monolithic mass. With minimal external views, the design aims to provide the avid gardening homeowners and their newlywed children with a climate-conscious and a unique inward-looking home. In crafting a multi-generational home, the design strives to avoid the formation of wholly segregated private zones. Instead, it aims to create a shared space where chance encounters and a sense of connectedness can flourish.

Mangmi Farm
Located in Mangmi Village in Yangpyeong, South Korea, the project is situated in the valley where three mountains meet. The site sitting in the deep mountains retains a calm, peaceful vibrance. After retirement, the client couple have been living there growing fruit trees. They asked for a community facility and a glasshouse along with a campsite. The most important feature in the site is the forest. Trees rooted down there for a long time have memories of the place more than anything.
