Pre-War Co-Op Renovation 61 West 9th
About This Renovation
For our clients at 61 West 9th Street, what began as a desire to refresh the kitchen and flooring of their Manhattan pied-à-terre evolved into a comprehensive renovation that touched nearly every room. Our goal? Modernize the apartment while honoring the bones, introducing refined materials, improved functionality, and a cohesive mid-century modern aesthetic throughout.

Bachelor Duplex
This duplex apartment in New York’s Greenwich Village presented some challenges. Typical of postwar high-rises, it had 8-foot concrete slab ceilings, small generic bathrooms, a miniscule kitchen, and linoleum floors.

The overarching goal was to create spaces with unique atmospheres that add up to a coherent whole. On the lower level, a conservatory, created by demolishing the exterior wall of the kitchen, blends the inside with the outside and provides casual living space.

A hot-rolled steel TV wall connects the conservatory with the formal dining room, maximizing the conservatory’s abundant natural light and spectacular views.

Zarafshan Villa
In this project, the client requested a neo-classic building with four separate sections.The design team decided to match the client’s need with his characteristic type and develop the classic structure with a new expression of the past architecture. By studying the past architecture, we attempted to establish a symbiosis between past and present through a representation of the Chahar-Bagh Arche-type.By emphasizing the main axis of the Chahar-Bagh, we created a void between the building that allowed light and landscape into it which connected the ground to the sky.The voids are defined from the roof to the lower part of the building continuously, connecting north to south, east to west and top to bottom of the project.The villa has two floo... NYC Loft Renovation
Located in a historic downtown New York building, this loft has a challenging long and narrow shape, and the clients had a complex set of requirements: Both husband and wife work from home, they frequently entertain large groups, and they often have overnight guests. In addition to the kitchen, dining room, living room and master suite, the program included his and her offices, a den, a guestroom, a sitting/TV room, a second guest space, and space for a large book collection. The challenge was to accommodate all these functions within the tight 2,200-square-foot space.
