21-24 Nikkakjøkken Restaurant

Minimal intervention adaptive reuse: a restaurant core inserted into an existing barn, with the timber truss left exposed. Mathias Sæther Mathias Sæther Function as an insert, not a rebuild. The original envelope remains; a lightweight core delivers the restaurant programme. Conceived as an independent module built entirely in timber, it is not intended to be immediately reversible in situ, but is designed for future demounting without harm to the historic shell. VVE460 demonstrates how adaptive reuse can extend the life of an existing interior through careful conversion rather than replacement. The project by Galati Casmiro Giorno reinterprets an early twentieth-century Liberty-style apartment in Catania as a hospitality space, using targeted interventions to improve functionality, spatial clarity, and guest comfort while maintaining a connection to the interior’s architectural heritage. Khéma Restaurant Flatiron

The design for Khéma Flatiron, located on the 27th and 28th floors of the Flatiron by Meridian building, represents a strategic evolution for one of Phnom Penh’s most established hospitality brands. Partnering with Meridian International Holdings and Thalias Hospitality Group, The Room Architecture and Design was tasked with translating the intimate, home-like ambiance of the original Khéma locations into a high-rise setting tailored to a fast-paced international business district.
