Macau M8

Situated within the UNESCO area of Macau, this redevelopment project aims to make a positive contribution to the city life as a cultural and commercial landmark that draws cues from Macau’s heritage.  M8 welcomes visitors through its sculptural entrance. On the rooftop garden, visitors can enjoy the magnificent view of Macau’s local streets and participate in various cultural events. HDP Photography to its urban context, weaving together historical streets and laneways, while nodding to Portuguese and Chinese architectural traditions. Toitoi: Hawke's Bay Opera House

DPA Architects were engaged to undertake seismic strengthening and restoration of the Hawke’s Bay Opera House opened in 1915 and one of the few remaining theatres to have been designed by renowned architect Henry Eli White. The façade is one of the country’s earliest examples of Spanish Mission style, while the lavish interiors, with their elaborate plaster decoration and coloured leadlight windows, are considered to be an important example of Art Nouveau. Formerly dark spaces were transformed by a lighter palette and in the auditorium, rich red tones were remployed in carpet, seating and feature walls to create an atmosphere of depth and luxury associated with traditional theatre design. The former Police Married Quarters (PMQ) in Central is a historical landmark which has been restored and adapted to new uses that inspire creativity by providing opportunities for aspiring artists, designers and a complementary mix of retailers to springboard and build their enterprises while creating a platform to promote Hong Kong’s design industry.
