Casa Carmen
The Carmen project recovers the identity of a flat dating from 1963 and 220 sqm located in Madrid. With an intentional and conscious desire to recycle and recover, it is emptied to add only a few design pieces that organise the whole.
The structure of concrete pillars and beams is uncovered, the enclosures of paving pieces and the dark finishes of the period are restored. Instead of replacing them, they are integrated into a now open-plan space that pivots between two focal points: an island with a mustard base and a ceramic base, and on the other side an orange wooden body that focuses attention on the centre of the living room.

Fifth Avenue Pied-À-Terre
This minimalist one-bedroom apartment is a pied-à-terre for a couple who split their time between New York and Florida. Prior to the renovation, the apartment was dark, despite four west-facing windows along Central Park, so a primary goal was to make the space feel lighter and brighter. Conceptually, millwork volumes - rather than conventional partitions - read as floating objects while delineating the different spaces. This helps stretch the perception of space to the apartment’s perimeter walls. The living and bedroom spaces flow into one another, and when privacy is needed, hidden pocket doors recessed in the pantry volume can be closed.

After refurbishing a first studio in Paris 20e, our office miogui was asked for a second one in the same building. It’s almost the same space, with some little differences, that create a different plan, with the same concept. The existing situation is banal, a bathroom too big for the space, one window in the bathroom, one other in the main space, a little kitchen, a big wardrobe, a bed. The main question we want to answer is: How can the space look bigger ?
