1100 Architect completed a landmark-sensitive renovation of the Böllenfalltor Sports Hall, one of Darmstadt’s key public venues. Built in 1964, the hall includes a dramatic vaulted wood-paneled ceiling that was meticulously preserved and integrated with a new lighting system. The renovation replaced outdated systems with high-performance lighting and ventilation to meet current athletic and safety standards. Floodgate is a uniquely modern 17-story building with significant ground-floor restaurant space fronting the River Walk and 63 apartment units on the upper tower floors. Designed for a dense urban site, the residential tower employs varying asymmetrical floor plates within three stacked tiers, responding to views from the site and providing optimal sunlight to the River Walk below.  The design acknowledges and reinforces the historic context with contemporary architecture. The Moda Pier, a historical structure designed by Vedat Tek in 1916-1917, underwent a re-functioning project to revive its role in Kadıköy's sea transportation. The restoration and re-functioning aimed to integrate the pier into contemporary needs while preserving its historical significance. The ground level, transformed into a book-cafe and working area, features an open-plan space. Removal of additional walls created a flexible layout, offering various scenarios. At the end of the 19th century, architect Giacomo Boni excavated for the first time in centuries the Roman Forum sewer system, known as Cloaca Massima. Following BBB’s 2016 Master Plan for the National Presbyterian Church, the project is the first major alteration since the completion of the building, designed by Harold E. Wagoner, in 1967. The Church is listed on the DC Inventory of Historic Sites. BBB designed two additions which expand the Main Church building; in the first, new meeting rooms clad in salvaged limestone with large glass entrances open onto the new outdoor terrace and an expanded roof terrace above, overlooking an existing garden. Winthrop House, comprised of two Neo-Georgian former freshman dormitory buildings from 1913, had undergone few upgrades since its construction. The renewal program re-envisioned Winthrop’s residential, academic, social, and co-curricular spaces and addresses technical challenges, including significant envelope upgrades, the installation of all-new mechanical systems, and detailed restoration work for the House’s signature public spaces.
