 The kitchen is always the heart of the home and originally the kitchen was inaccessible to the other living spaces. With this remodel, we made the kitchen the heart of the home again and connected the spaces proximity wise and you can see all the spaces in one spot –nice for hosting and just living there as a family. Located in the hills of Montecito, California, this small residence presented the designers with the challenge of achieving a bold program with a modest budget. Collaborating with the client, the designers developed a unique residential character and focused on orienting design around the property’s surrounding environment, framing views of the Santa Ynez mountains through expansive glass openings on the North facade. The clients for The Farm were determined to create a contemporary, sustainable, and functional home for their family within the building constraints of urban San Francisco. The home, built in 1905, is a New England brick and shingle style residence sitting next to an overgrown lot.
