Overdale

Overdale is a reimagined Victorian home that showcases slim sliding doors in Ilkley. The glazing package combines large-span, ultra slim sliding doors, Invisio® structural glazing and frameless glass balustrades in RAL 7021 Matt to bring light, views and clean lines to the refurbished envelope. Townscape Architects Townscape Architects The terrace-facing elevations use a series of two-track slim sliding door sets with sliding sashes framed by fixed panes to open the main living spaces to the garden. Fixed returns form a clear glass-to-glass corner, extending views around the room, and a further slider on a secondary elevation provides everyday access. Together these assemblies deliver the slim sightlines and easy operation as... More

Modern Home on a Mountain Vineyard

In the heart of a vineyard, nestled on the side of a mountain near Sonoma, California, Bjella Architecture has fused a home and boutique winery together into a bold, modern design that is warm and inviting, yet exhibits an industrial edge fitting to its purpose. For the family, it is a home and a lifestyle that are inseparable. Tim Bjella Tim Bjella Tim Bjella Tim Bjella Inspired by the earth it rests upon, the exterior of the home draws its color palette from the rich hues of the vineyard soils and local rock outcroppings. The stone and stucco materials link the home with the land, reinforcing the home’s sense of place. The stone seamlessly flows inside where earthy concrete floors, Merlot wine-stained cabinetry,... MP_II House

The MP_II House is an example of a project where our main goal was to create a building that harmonises with its surroundings. The low-rise structure, finished with charred wood siding, is nestled among trees, forming a safe enclave for the residents. The L-shaped building's footprint allows the separation of the daytime area from the private zone. Nate Cook Nate Cook Nate Cook Nate Cook This shape is echoed by a skylight in the roof, which illuminates the interior with gentle, diffused light. Extending beyond the building's volume, the eaves create a roofing over a terrace located by the living room. Large sliding glass doors blur the boundary between the interior and exterior spaces. The overhang, supported by wooden... More

taller11 creates an energy efficient house of two halves

Catalan architectural studio taller11 has created a house of two halves in Vilafranca, a center for the wine growing industry around 50 kilometers west of Barcelona. A home for a couple and their two children, the house, curiously named CASA0006, has a party wall on its south-west side and a vacant plot on its north-east side. Budget constraints and a request by the client that the home should have two or three bedrooms and several multipurpose spaces, resulted in a clever design layout. Atzar López Vilanova taller11 A house of two halves, taller11 placed the bedrooms and living areas in a heated volume of massive mortar block masonry. On the other side of this, the studio created a winter garden/sunroom — a... More

Koo's House

It was a site with an open view, with a cozy mountainside to the rear of the house and a rice field that the client had cultivated for a long time to the front. The owner and his wife, who had all three of their children left home, wanted to demolish the existing house, which they had a lot of affection for, but was too old and inconvenient, and build a new home on the same site. holidaylab design studio holidaylab design studio holidaylab design studio As the client couple wanted a low-slung single-story house in harmony with the natural scenery stretching out to the front and back, the architect planned an exterior with a simple yet powerful roof line, and Holiday Lab also designed the interior space to be a space with a s... Winter House

“Winter House” is a single residential unit whose main goal is being a shelter and a setting for the enjoyment of the land property’s pristine privileged nature, such as the outdoors and the country lifestyle. These are the main reasons why the blueprint is organized into four blocks, linked through the occupants’ control of permeability from the inside-out of the residence, for the layout to approach thanks to the textures accomplished on the volumes, rifts and spans, into dynamic filters which extent or restrict spaces in order to the necessities.    Towards the avenue arises a language of materials which holds the sincerity of the natural elements, such as stone and wood, and whose spans emphasize the... HOUSE ON GOLF COURSE - BUENOS AIRES

Located on a golf course of a suburban neighborhood of Buenos Aires.  It was built almost exclusively on concrete and glass.  From the street two solid and subtle concrete volumes hold a floating glass body.  Two different zones are located at both sides of the glass cube. One of them holds the basic home functions, and the other the complementary program. The central greenhouse brings the outside into the very core of the house, not only does it articulate the two main volumes, but also connects them in a vertical and horizontal manner using metal and transparent elements. By walking through the well-defined circulation of the house you get a perceptible aesthetic experience. Everything happens along this pathway.... More

Weekend House

The project of the house in Colares stared with a topographical research in mind, finding the most dramatic cliff between Cascais and Cabo da Roca, for a weekend house, on the west coast of Portugal, at the closest point to the Americas on European land. The site is located in the Parque Natural de Sintra-Cascais, just between the famous Lighthouse of Cabo da Roca and the nearby Santuário da Peninha, it is part of a territory which is constellated by windmills and local production of wine. The plot itself has first been spotted on Google Maps and has been further investigated for planning permissions to the local authorities, it is located at the very end of the Rua das Piroletas in the one and the only land left unbuilt since the... House NB

PROJECT DESCRIPTION The project became from the interpretation of several factors that can condition the way of living, either by place and landscape, or by the needs and desires of the its future inhabitants. In addition, it was important to enjoy the sun exposition as well as the great ocean view and landscape to the north side, since both are in opposite sides. Therefore, the house was developed in two floors and implanted in the higher level of the terrain to optimise these factors, and at the same time reduce its impact in the territory, not only in in terms of design,  but also in the choice of materials, such as the local stone, wood, glazing and landscaped roof.  These materials contribute to the integration in the land... House RM

PROJECT DESCRIPTION This house proposal results from a number of factors that determine the project development, namely the characteristics of the place, its surroundings, the adjacent buildings and sun exposure, and also to meet the needs and desires of its future inhabitants. In this sense, and searching for a volumetry integrable in the place environment, we opted for a house organized in two floors, maintaining a relation in terms of heights, balanced with the rest constructed surrounding. Both the implantation of the house and its spatial organization took into consideration the sun exposure, and at the same time the need to create its own space, without being disturbed by the street at the north side. Regard the articulation betwee... More

Maternal House( خانه مادری )

This contemporary apartment was designed to replace an old childhood home. Despite the limitations in the design of the plan and its inability to create a nostalgic atmosphere, we tried to design the facade of the structure’s corner with playful rainbow colored highlights woods, rusted bars, these colorful windows appears to be a painting for children and infants from the old home reminiscent of sweet childhood times.
