Virgin Hyperloop’s Pegasus pod designed by BIG completes first passenger test at speeds of over 1,000 km/h

After 400 tests in the Nevada desert without passengers, now for the first time the Virgin Hyperloop completed the fastest form of land-based travel with human passengers inside. Virgin Hyperloop partnered with BIG and Kilo to design the Pegasus pod that can be blasted through the 500 meter DevLoop test site to achieve hyperloop travel at the speed of over 1,000 km/hour. The pod contains a forward-facing window for a view down the tunnel. Incremental rings at the front shape a spacy entry to the transport vehicle. Repeating soft forms and pill shaped cut-outs are used to create a sense of depth and speed.  Courtesy of Virgin Hyperloop The six square meters interior is custom built and designed with comfort and safety in mind.... Hyperloop Campus

The Hyperloop campus is a vision of future transit and research facilities.  An architectural synthesis of aerodynamic fluxes, morphing the tectonic body into a series of hyperbolic folds and double curvatures. A hybrid structure with flexible spaces and grand ceiling heights for prototyping. The main building proposal includes a transit station, residential apartments, classrooms, engine research center, exhibition areas, laboratories, offices, and lecture hall. The residential portion sits at the southeast end of the headquarters as a double shelled enclosure. This is to provide a tent like approach to shield the residential housing from excessive sun and heat. The residential apartment sits within the shell structure with open edge... More

From Amsterdam to Frankfurt in 53 minutesUNStudio partners with Hardt Hyperloop and presents its vision for the Station of the Future. The UNStudio Futures Team (UNSFutures) presented its vision for the ‘Station of the Future’ at the first edition of HyperSummit, which took place in Utrecht, the Netherlands and was organised by Hardt Hyperloop. The first edition of the HyperSummit was focused on urgency, research and collaboration, with numerous partners speaking about their contribution to the possibilities for realising the European hyperloop.Special attention was also devoted to the kick-off study of the Hyperloop Implementation Programme (HIP), a study which looks at implementation questions relating to the Amsterdam-Frankfurt project.Ur... Hyperloop Suburb-2018 Venice Biennale

HOW DO WE WANT TO LIVE?Suburbs are typically thought of as dystopian, insulated places. Currently, on display at the Time Space Existence exhibition during the 2018 Venice Architecture Biennale, the Hyperloop Suburb, a speculative immersive installation, explores whether hyperloop technology can breathe new life into these liminal spaces. The implication for suburbs, situated between the urban and pastoral, suggests an impending regional re-think, asking the primal question “How do we want to live?”BRINGING AIRPLANE SPEED TO GROUND LEVEL TRAVELBringing airplane speed to ground level travel, a hyperloop is a high-speed transport system capable of closing the distance between the city and its rural periphery. Thanks to worldwide testing of th... More
