A building where cars are central   Design gives shape to new store concept If you drive on the A4 along the Forepark in The Hague in the spring of 2019, you will see the completely redesigned Mercedes-Benz flagshipstore. The existing building - designed in 1999 by architectural firm Van der Valk - has been radically modified for the new store concept of Mercedes-Benz and the parent company Daimler AG, both functionally and in terms of appearance. The sale and maintenance of large trucks has moved to a different location, while the workshops have been redesigned. HEAD OFFICE CAPGEMINI

Designed for the New Way of Working Enabling the New Way of Working has been a central theme in the development of the Capgemini Dutch headquarters at Leidsche Rijn, Utrecht. This is reflected in the absence of columns in the open-plan office spaces with hot desks, interchangeable common spaces and a central atrium that serves as a welcoming meeting place and networking plaza. On nice days, the inner courtyard, that is directly connected to the atrium, can also be used to work or enjoy lunch. The open-plan office spaces are interrupted by meeting rooms that create private work spaces for flexible use. Apartments Complex 220

As part of large-scale project to improve the quality of living in a post-war residential quarter in Pijnacker, the Netherlands, housing association Rondom Wonen wanted to build 63 affordable rental apartments for singles and couples, suitable for both young and old. Ibelings Van Tilburg has designed – within budget – not 63 but 66 apartments of a quality and charm that is not usually associated with social housing.  Attractive apartment blocks The 66 apartments are spread over three identical buildings. Transition from austere office building to inviting learning environmentHonourable mention Gulden Feniks 2012 Open and invitingThe former tax office in the Wibautstraat in Amsterdam has been transformed by Ibelings van Tilburg architects into an educational environment for the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences. The future users - 34 programs with approximately 5,200 students - were closely involved from the beginning. The contributions of the programs involved, students, staff and physically disabled persons have helped to replace the gloomy and oppressive feel of the former tax office with a learning environment that has high spaces full of light and an open and inviting atmosphere. Unique loft apartments in a striking tower Iconic reference to the past.In 1956 IBM decided to base a laboratory on the edge of Uithoorn in the Netherlands. Over time, the location expanded into an extensive complex surrounding a striking central tower with three floors. When IBM left the location was converted into the new residential area Park Krayenhoff. Gestroomlijnde architectuurFlowing linesInalfa Roof Systems is a major supplier of vehicle roof systems and the streamlined new head office, which includes a production facility and warehouse, reflects the company's activities. The curved front of the building with its striking entrance is reminiscent of a car grille. The offices and the adjoining production hall together form a smooth and coherent whole. The rounded corners, strip windows and finely profiled aluminium cladding give the building a dynamic look and feel. A new heart for the municipality of Utrechtse HeuvelrugA versatile building and a harmonious fitThe new cultural centre in Doorn is not only home to the municipality of Utrechtse Heuvelrug (including all its public functions) but also houses the library, the Centre for Youth and Families, the tourist office, the music school, a grand café, ABN AMRO Bank and the local history museum. A flexible and multi-functional building that had to fit harmoniously in a culturally and historically important place in the town centre, next to the church of St. Martin. Understated chic appealBetonprijs 2003Communicative buildingThe Head Office of Mercedes-Benz in the Netherlands, originally designed for their parent company DaimlerChrysler (at that time still merged), is located in the bend of the Oudenrijn junction near Utrecht. The oval, silvery coloured building is clearly visible from the road. The building responds to this with the rectangular auditorium that protrudes from the glass facade of the atrium and serves as a life-size billboard with alternating advertisements. The building's communicative function is also apparent from the interior, with a central atrium that exudes openness and stimulates cooperation between the different parts of the organisation.
